Friday Film Love ~ Annabelle and Andrew's Seaside Wedding in Sandsend, Near Whitby

by Love My Dress via Love My Dress Wedding Blog
Whitby-wedding
There's a beautifully relaxed atmosphere to this afternoon, and taking that in to account, I couldn't think of a more lovely feature to share than the super8-mm wedding film of Annabelle and Andrew, who tied the knot practically on my doorstep, in the beautiful Sandsend adjacent to my hometown of Whitby. God I love this place. I adore living here; the seaside, country lifestyle, the beautiful house in the hill we have, the views, the local seafood, the people, watching the sun as it rises from the ocean and dips back in to the ocean again at sunset (Whitby is one of only a handful of places in the UK where the sun sets and rises in this fashion - creating the most exquisite photo opportunities). It seems I'm not the only one who has a bit of a love affair with this beautiful North Yorkshire coastal retreat. Bride Annabelle shared her fondness for Sandsend and why she and Andrew chose to tie the knot there... 'We chose Sandsend beach as a location because Whitby has always been really important to us. Andrew’s mum and dad honeymooned there 30 years ago and when Andrew and I first started dating we used to go there all the time, walk up the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey (which you get a great view of from from Sandsend beach) and enjoy walks along the pier with our fish and chips. It’s where we first realised we had a future together as a couple and where Andrew would have proposed (except I would have known straight away!).' 'We wanted our wedding to be classically styled so that our photography and wedding film would stand the test of time. I took a lot of inspiration from Love My Dress, which I read religiously. Except for the flowers, all decoration and stationary was homemade, the last few weeks were a minefield of jelly bean favours, candle votives and paper goods!' 'The very talented Mark W. Brown filmed our wedding. As soon as I saw his films on Love My dress, I knew Mark was the one for us and he didn’t disappoint. I have to say the film is absolutely outstanding; it made us laugh and cry (tears of joy of course) all at the same time! Mark captured moments I didn’t even know happened an I’ll honestly cherish it forever. We can’t stop watching it! We'd like to thank Mark so much for working so hard, and for all your ideas on the day, he really is awesome at what he does.' Read more...

Real Quirky Comic-Book Themed Wedding: Verity & Russell - The Reception

by noreply@blogger.com (Georgia Tolley) via Wedding Blog UK ~ Wedding Ideas ~ Before The Big Day
Regular readers of the blog might have spotted my giant balloon obsession. It all started back when I was planning my own wedding - I saw this picture, and decided I had to have giant white balloons at my big day. Fast forward two years and Before the Big Day bride, Verity, got in touch to tell me about her love of red balloons, and to find out the details of my purple bridesmaid dresses supplier. Fast forward another year, and here are the amazing pictures of Verity and Russell's big day! They didn't just use balloons in their wedding decoration - they had a veritable plethora of wedding details, all themed around a vintage comic book and board game wedding theme. You'll find buckets of DIY wedding inspiration, from their Monopoly board table plan, the favour boxes wrapped in comic book pages, their mum-made wedding cake and jam-jar Pimm's glasses. I love the Scrabble tile wedding favours, the vintage cameras and the pop of the homemade red bunting against the white of the marquee. Huge thanks to Verity for submitting her wedding, and to her fantastic wedding photographer, Rebecca Litchfield for capturing all the details. Why not submit your wedding?
We got married on 18 May 2013 at Sudbury Hall in Derbyshire with a reception in Rosliston Forestry Centre. We actually had a rough ride with our reception. We booked a nearby barn but got told with eight months to go that they were no longer doing weddings due to noise and neighbour problems. We were gutted! Thankfully Saffron Caterers put forward Rosliston Forestry Centre as an alternative. It was in the middle of the National Forest, and has accommodation for all our guests, so it was the perfect alternative, and better than our original choice. Read more...
