Friday Film Love ~ Annabelle and Andrew's Seaside Wedding in Sandsend, Near Whitby

by Love My Dress via Love My Dress Wedding Blog
Whitby-wedding
There's a beautifully relaxed atmosphere to this afternoon, and taking that in to account, I couldn't think of a more lovely feature to share than the super8-mm wedding film of Annabelle and Andrew, who tied the knot practically on my doorstep, in the beautiful Sandsend adjacent to my hometown of Whitby. God I love this place. I adore living here; the seaside, country lifestyle, the beautiful house in the hill we have, the views, the local seafood, the people, watching the sun as it rises from the ocean and dips back in to the ocean again at sunset (Whitby is one of only a handful of places in the UK where the sun sets and rises in this fashion - creating the most exquisite photo opportunities). It seems I'm not the only one who has a bit of a love affair with this beautiful North Yorkshire coastal retreat. Bride Annabelle shared her fondness for Sandsend and why she and Andrew chose to tie the knot there... 'We chose Sandsend beach as a location because Whitby has always been really important to us. Andrew’s mum and dad honeymooned there 30 years ago and when Andrew and I first started dating we used to go there all the time, walk up the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey (which you get a great view of from from Sandsend beach) and enjoy walks along the pier with our fish and chips. It’s where we first realised we had a future together as a couple and where Andrew would have proposed (except I would have known straight away!).' 'We wanted our wedding to be classically styled so that our photography and wedding film would stand the test of time. I took a lot of inspiration from Love My Dress, which I read religiously. Except for the flowers, all decoration and stationary was homemade, the last few weeks were a minefield of jelly bean favours, candle votives and paper goods!' 'The very talented Mark W. Brown filmed our wedding. As soon as I saw his films on Love My dress, I knew Mark was the one for us and he didn’t disappoint. I have to say the film is absolutely outstanding; it made us laugh and cry (tears of joy of course) all at the same time! Mark captured moments I didn’t even know happened an I’ll honestly cherish it forever. We can’t stop watching it! We'd like to thank Mark so much for working so hard, and for all your ideas on the day, he really is awesome at what he does.' Read more...

Real Quirky Comic-Book Themed Wedding: Verity & Russell - The Reception

by noreply@blogger.com (Georgia Tolley) via Wedding Blog UK ~ Wedding Ideas ~ Before The Big Day
Regular readers of the blog might have spotted my giant balloon obsession. It all started back when I was planning my own wedding - I saw this picture, and decided I had to have giant white balloons at my big day. Fast forward two years and Before the Big Day bride, Verity, got in touch to tell me about her love of red balloons, and to find out the details of my purple bridesmaid dresses supplier. Fast forward another year, and here are the amazing pictures of Verity and Russell's big day! They didn't just use balloons in their wedding decoration - they had a veritable plethora of wedding details, all themed around a vintage comic book and board game wedding theme. You'll find buckets of DIY wedding inspiration, from their Monopoly board table plan, the favour boxes wrapped in comic book pages, their mum-made wedding cake and jam-jar Pimm's glasses. I love the Scrabble tile wedding favours, the vintage cameras and the pop of the homemade red bunting against the white of the marquee. Huge thanks to Verity for submitting her wedding, and to her fantastic wedding photographer, Rebecca Litchfield for capturing all the details. Why not submit your wedding?
We got married on 18 May 2013 at Sudbury Hall in Derbyshire with a reception in Rosliston Forestry Centre. We actually had a rough ride with our reception. We booked a nearby barn but got told with eight months to go that they were no longer doing weddings due to noise and neighbour problems. We were gutted! Thankfully Saffron Caterers put forward Rosliston Forestry Centre as an alternative. It was in the middle of the National Forest, and has accommodation for all our guests, so it was the perfect alternative, and better than our original choice. Read more...

A Glamorous And Elegant Manor House Wedding - Blogger.ba

Luna by Jenny Packham For A Glamorous And Elegant Manor House Wedding

Original by Love my dress, and supported by Weddingbuy.co.uk.

Jayne is one of those brides your gaze lingers that little bit extra longer on. Of course, there is her rather outstanding natural beauty - her gorgeous long auburn hair, those red deep red lips that remind me of the look of a Hollywood screen icon, that svelte and elegant frame.  But then there's her gown. And what a wow-factor of a gown it is too.

James and Jayne tied the knot on 25 May this year at Thorton Manor in Cheshire. Jayne looked out of this world in her exquisite 'Luna' gown by Jenny Packham...

"I wore the Luna dress by Jenny Packham, because I loved it! And every time I tried it on I loved it a little bit more."

Photography Copyright (c) 2013, Sarah Janes Photography

Luna by Jenny Packham

"Thorton Manor in Cheshire is truly amazing, we were fortunate to have a sunny day without a cloud in the sky which meant we could have had the wedding outside or exit on to lime walk and have drinks on the terrace. The shot of us leaving on to the lime walk with everyone throwing confetti truly made our day.  The gardens are truly out of this world, I am surprised there are not more photographs of these on the website, and we found a field of buttercups at the end of the gardens!

We really loved the idea as well that there was so many different rooms in the house, so we could get married in one, have drinks reception in another and wedding breakfast in another, created a flow to the day."

Luna by Jenny Packham

"James has his best man to thank really for the formal induction, but we both met in school nearly 11 years ago and have been together ever since.  On Saturday 7th February 2009, we set out on a sight-seeing tour of London.  It's hard to believe that we have lived there for several years but I had never seen the sights.  We started with a open top bus ride on freezing morning, maybe James could have planned that bit a little better.. but oh well.  We then had some lunch before moving going to the London eye.  I felt puzzled as James did not join the queue for the capsules and instead went to the reception, he had booked the valentine's couple capsule instead!

I still thought it was a joint birthday present and valentines present, for those that do not know Jayne's birthday is the 14th February so it is either an easy thing for James to remember or a terrible mistake waiting to happen.  As we boarded the carriage, I said jokingly 'you're not going to propose or anything silly like that are you?', James laughed it off, but it was a very long 15 minutes to the top.  Where a very nervous James got down on one knee, and I said yes!  Good job I did too otherwise it may have been a long awkward ride down, and embarrasment in front of the waitress too!  Although we did not realise the carriage behind could also see everything too and we got many congratulations."

"Cake in Chester were our cake makers.  Stacey was truly amazing, nothing was too much trouble with her, we changed design on her, then added penguins for her to make, then changed the filling, never at any point did she make us feel as though we where troubling here.  Also the samples where amazing , each made into a little cup cake, we knew we choose the right place.  The Cake was inspired from one Jayne had seen from the Cake Girls and just wanted something simple but ornate."

Luna by Jenny Packham

"We hired Sarah Jane Photography - we where specifically looking for a photographer that would capture the day while being able to fade into the background.  We had been to weddings before and the Bride and Groom disappear for hours for photos, we wanted to just enjoy every moment of the day.  We where stunned by how little of our time that Sarah took up but then gave us nearly 800 amazing photographs most of which we was not even aware she was taking.  Also Sarah gets involved with the excite of your wedding and makes you feel at ease."

"Our band The Coolers entertained everyone in the evening.  They even did a special rendition of you got the love that worked so well, although people recognised the song it was different enough that some people thought it was a unique cover for our wedding, it has just right speed for us to have our first dance to.  We also had a Casino.

Our first dance was to You Got The Love featuring Andrew Roachford (a slow version of the Florence And The Machine Version, covered by our band).  This is the song that always reminds James of me and also happens to be my favourite sont too.  We were going to have temper trap - Sweet Disposition, however it was too difficult to do a slow dance too so we went for it as our last song and used it on video.  This Song just reminded us of planning our wedding and is such an uplifting song." Luna by Jenny Packham

Words of Wedded Wisdom...

"You cannot please everyone, remember your day is about the two of you and the love that you will celebrate, it will be the happiest day of your life, take the time to enjoy it!

Our caterers, Barretts were absolutely outstanding, it was them that made the day for us. Michelle does so much more than catering, she does not need to but she does to make sure that your day is special. There are so many things she did throughout the day here are just a few that spring to mind;  when we arrived she made sure that she came to see both of us to make sure we were ok and ask if there was anything she could do  She made sure that we had our own personal waitress that followed us throughout the photography to make sure that we got canapés and champagne.  She moved decorations from the ceremony room to the wedding breakfast (that we hadn’t even considered), which added the ‘finishing touch’ to the wedding breakfast room  When we weren’t hungry at the evening buffet she offered to box up some sandwiches sp we could have them later.

There where so many more things that we could mention but Michelle just made the day run like clockwork, and was there from first thing in the morning till 11pm at night even though she was catering the day before and the day after our wedding. We can honestly say that there is no other supplier that made our day more special than Michelle. Thinking about it we haven't even mentioned the food! We were extremely difficult with our food options, first we had a trio of lamb which we tasted, and then due to some family issues we moved to a 4 choice main option with lamb, duck, veg or salmon. At each point Michelle and the team at Barretts never felt like we was putting them out they always made us feel so welcome when we went for tasting and were always available to discuss any aspect of the day, not just the food.

We received so many comments from people on how amazing the food was, both in the presentation and taste, having a 4 choice menu option as well as a trio of starters and a trio of desserts is testament to how organised Michelle and her team are. Finally I should also mention how many people commented on how courteous the staff where. "

Fields Of Green

In order to keep costs down my sister Ruth did my make up (and ended up getting roped into doing the entire bridal party!). We went for a brilliant make up lesson at Mac on 3, in Selfridges. This cost £50 for an hour’s tuition and you then got to that money back if you bought £50 worth of products. Predictably, I ended up spending more than £50 but it was well worth it to give my sister the confidence boost she needed. Ruth’s make up, plus some eyelash extensions for the day made me feel very glamorous on the day. I knew I wanted my hair up with some plaits. I was delighted with the end result.

A fab rustic-style country wedding in Devon with Leonie and Tom

real-wedding-leonie-tom-featuredThe proposal

“Tom woke me at 5am out of the blue ‘to go on an adventure’. We ended up taking a hot air balloon ride from the edge of Dartmoor, out towards the sea,” explains Leonie. “After the ballooning we went for a picnic at our favourite beach, and that’s when Tom popped the question,” she adds

The bride’s outfit

“I really wasn’t sure about the whole big white dress thing – I was nervous enough about being centre of attention, without wearing a massive meringue, too,” says Leonie. Our bride decided to have a dress made bespoke from a local seamstress, so she could be more in control of the design. “As well as being the perfect dress for me, it was also a brilliant experience to see the design come to life, and be able to tailor it to my needs along the way,” she adds

Leonie’s four best girls looked picture perfect in their dusky pink frocks from Debenhams. “I didn’t think we’d ever find one dress that they all liked and agreed on, but we got there in the end!” smiles Leonie. read more ....

A Sparkling Monique Lhuillier Gown For An All-White, Romantic Castle Wedding
It's not often I receive an 'all-white' wedding to feature, but these nuptials make up for that.  These beautiful wedding photographs were submitted by photographer Jay Rowden, who was commissioned by couple Kristina and Paul to record their exquisitely minimalist and elegant wedding on 26 June this year at Sudeley Castle in The Cotswolds.

"Paul and I met through mutual friends. On the balcony of our hotel suite in Croatia paul proposed at sunset (1st June 2012) so almost exactly a year later we married."

"I wore a Cartier love bracelet that was a wedding gift from paul and a pair of simple stud earrings that were a birthday gift from paul a few years ago. As my dress was so embellished and had a lot going on it needed to be kept simple."

"Our cake was made by Contemporary Cakes Cheltenham.  They were fab! I knew I wanted a bow (as there was one on my dress I just had to convince paul without telling him the reason why). We had a 4 tier cake with all different flavours. I didn’t want a standard cake table so I sourced bon jars filled with white bon bons and tied with white ribbon into bows. We had single tea lights with candles and some with single stem roses to soften the look." Read more ....

I’ve been in Japan for the past week dividing my time quite carefully between the responsible and the irresponsible. So many outfits to share with you as a result of both! This was shot pretty early in the morning in Shibuya thus the lack of people swarms. To stay cool in what was already suffocating wall of steam from every direction heat, I put this handy algae colored net over silk separates that are basically pajamas. Accessorized with espadrilles I picked up on sale at Jeffrey’s in New York and a big old bucket bag by Barbara Bui.

Fashion Inspiration From Rollins College

Although a trip to the Polynesian may not be in your summer plans, you can be inspired by the tropical aesthetic the resort provides. Below, I’ve created two different looks inspired by Disney’s Polynesian Resort in Walt Disney World. Scroll down to see them both!

Spirit of Aloha

Get an island appeal with ease when you step out in this fun outfit. Tuck a yellow shirt into banana leaf print shorts. Slip on a pair of wedges and throw on a fedora for an extra-tropical vibe. Complete the ensemble with a floral statement necklace, a neutral-tone crossbody bag, and a pair of retro shades. Perfect for a day spent next to the shore!

Nestled between the Santa Ynez foothills + the Pacific Ocean, the historic Dos Pueblos Ranch in Santa Barbara set the scene for today’s gorgeous styled shoot. Pulling inspiration from Frida Khalo’s art + life, the team behind this romantic wedding inspiration paid homage to this prolific artist by layering beautiful + bold details and incorporating unique elements of her Mexican Heritage throughout. And even though this is a seemingly specific theme, I really think you’ll find that so many of the inspiring design ideas can easily adapt to other wedding styles or celebrations. Here’s more from Nicole of Hint of Chic, the stylist bridesmaid dresses uk behind the shoot:

An abandoned greenhouse hosts the simple, organic ceremony based off the infamous French Vogue cover featuring Frida. Rose-heads float amidst the ombré green ribbon, acting as a sensuous backdrop to the ceremony. Behind the ribbon, a gilded frame showcases the sacred heart milagro, blessing the union between husband and wife. Completing the overall look, two large, spiked agave flank the alter, adding an edgy element to the otherwise feminine ceremony. Read more

I love quirky wedding venues and this one is a goodie. Today’s very pretty affair comes from the Yorkshire Sculpture Park – the open, airy spaces of the venue and the lush, green surrounding countryside make the perfect backdrop for Lou and Al’s wedding. Plus the cool sculptures and art work were instant entertainment for the guests.

Lou is Bride who definitely created the wedding she and Al wanted – this wedding isn’t full of fussy details, there’s no traditional gown, no favours and the cake is a giant Krispy Kreme tower!

Ladylike Style Dresses - blogger.ba

Fruitvale Station's Breakout Star Knows a Thing or Two About Ladylike Style

Ladylike Style

Our Cannes red carpet roundup primarily featured the established celebs in attendance—and with stars like Kristen Stewart, Jessica Chastain and Emma Roberts turning up in some amazing gowns, who can blame us?  But let's take a moment to talk about Melonie Diaz's red carpet look at the festival—it's prim, proper and polka-dotted, and we really dig it. The New York native appears in the buzzy Fruitvale Station, out tomorrow, which won the U.S. Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at Sundance and is now generating Oscar buzz. Starring newcomer Michael B. Jordan in the leading role, the film is based on the true story of Oscar Grant, a young man who was fatally shot by a BART police officer in Oakland, CA—even though he was unarmed at the time. Diaz, whom you may recognize from indie hits likeA Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006) and Be Kind Rewind (2008), plays Sophina, Grant's girlfriend.
Diaz's role may be intense—but with its contrast collar and playful bow, the vintage Moschino she sported at Cannes is all fun. Ladylike style's been big news for several seasons running, and Diaz's buttoned-up yet whimsical dress is a perfect example of how to wear the trend. Click through to shop some similar looks.
